Balloon Modelling: Make A Giraffe. Balloon modeller extraordinaire Jelly Kelly shows us how to make a giraffe out of a balloon. But before trying your hand at this, you can learn the basics in VideoJug's 'How to Start Balloon Modelling'.
Step 1: You will need
- a 260Q yellow balloon
- a professional pump
- a permanent marker pen
Step 2: Blow up
Place the lip of a 260Q balloon over the nib of your pump. Inflate the balloon and leave about a 6 inch tail. Tie it off by looping the lip around your fingers.
Step 3: Tie off
Loop the lip around your fingers, then tuck it through the loop. Gently pull and release to form the knot.
Step 4: Nose
Twist a bubble for the head about the same length as your finger.
Step 5: Ears
Make 2 small bubbles next to the first, twisting in the same direction. Twist these together to lock them off, creating two equal sized ears.
Step 6: Long neck
Give your giraffe a long neck twisting the balloon about five inches down from the ears. Bend it gently for a more natural shape.
Step 7: Front legs
Twist two long bubbles and lock them off for the front legs.
Step 8: Back legs
Make a twist about 3 inches down the balloon for the body. Then make two shorter back legs by twisting two bubbles and locking them off. There will be a small bubble left at the end for a tail.
Step 9: Detail
Take a permanent marker and draw eyes and a mouth on your giraffe's head. Then add a criss cross pattern along the neck to finish.
